If a member wanted to discuss the creation of a new policy it would be presented to the group as a resolution. After this, a discussion would take place, and then a vote. if the votes were in favour, at that point it would become a policy. After this, the organisation must write out a formal document stating what actions will be taken with the newly approved policy, and then submitted by a government personal. The NCWC took a huge part in creating the Victorian Order of Nurses, the Children's Aid Society, and the Canadian Association of Consumers. The National Council of Women of Canada supported many other organizations and movements, such as:
- the Women's Art Association of Canada, (which Lady Aberdeen sponsored)
- the Women's Bureau of Labour Canada
- the Federal Bureau on Ageing
- the Royal Commission on the Status of Women (which created the Canadian Advisory Council on the Status of Women)
One of the councils biggest causes was fighting to upgrade the status of women. The wanted equal right, they wanted women the have the right to vote, they wanted better education for women, they wanted freedom for all women.
